Exactly What The Terrorists Want To Hear

October 19, 2001 The Idaho Statesman published this "Reader's View" on October 12. In it, Arthur Harbison lifts words directly from a September 12 speech by the deceitful purveyor of anarchy Noam Chomsky. He didn't even bother to paraphrase. Probably figured Idahoans are too unsophisticated to recognize the source.

Chomsky is the political mentor of the academic left; primarily 60's radicals who pollute American universities in the guise of "professors" to indoctrinate students with their anti-American creeds.

Hundreds of thousands of young people have been exposed to Chomsky's propaganda and the equally vile teachings of his disciples. Many of these young people now manifest an otherwise incomprehensible rage against their country.

There are many who ask how it is possible that our most privileged and educated youth should come to despise their own nation - a free, open, democratic society - and to do so with such ferocious passion. They ask how it is possible for American youth to even consider lending comfort and aid to the Osama bin Ladens and the Saddam Husseins (and the Communists before them). The short answer is to be found in the speeches and writings of an embittered academic and his intellectual supporters.

For at least thirty five years, Noam Chomsky has written books and pamphlets reiterating the same destructive message. America is the Great Satan, the fount of evil in the world. America is responsible not only for its own bad deeds, but for the bad deeds of others, including those of the terrorists who struck the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

His poison is spread on the college lecture circuit, through his pamphlet "What Uncle Sam Really Wants", on cassettes and CDs (for those who find reading too tedious). He is promoted by superstar rock bands such as Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, and U-2 (whose lead singer Bono called Chomsky a "rebel without a pause") and is the icon of many in Hollywood - who create characters to regurgitate his assertions.

It would take volumes to detail the entirety of Chomsky's twisted facts, distorted political perspective and perversion of historical record.

To those who believe his words of hate, Chomsky provides this instruction in "What Uncle Sam Really Wants":

"The people of the Third World need our sympathetic understanding and, much more than that, they need our help. We can provide them with a margin of survival by internal disruption in the United States. Whether they can succeed against the kind of brutality we impose on them depends in large part on what happens here."

This is the voice of the Fifth Column left. Disruption in this country is what the terrorists want, and what the terrorists need, and what the followers of Noam Chomsky - people like Arthur Harbison - intend to give them.
